about Georgia Recreational Trail Riders Association

Our Mission

Georgia Recreational Trail Riders Association’s (GARTRA) mission is to ensure that public off-road vehicle recreational areas (OHV) are kept open, maintained, and provide a safe place to ride for off-road enthusiasts who ride both dirt bikes and ATVs throughout the state of Georgia. GARTRA is a non-profit 501(c)(3), member-managed club.

Founded in 1992 GARTRA has an active group of dedicated volunteers who meet regularly to study, and act on civic, environmental, and regulatory issues of concern to off-road riders. Volunteers also perform trail maintenance at public OHVs in the Chattahoochee National Forest and Oconee National Forest.

GARTRA maintains excellent relationships and cooperative efforts with the US Forest Service and other property owners. This is vital in order to provide safe and environmentally responsible trail riding opportunities.

GARTRA isn’t just all about working on trails either. GARTRA members also have fun together. GARTRA conducts family-friendly group trail rides, dual sport motorcycle rides, charity events, and fun days throughout the state of Georgia.
